IMPORTANT - SUGAR BEET COMPENSATION
A reminder to all sugar beet contractors - you must return your application forms to RPA by 30 April 2009 to be eligible for compensation under the sugar restructuring scheme.
We are aware that there are already some individual concerns but urge you to put in claim (particularly those of you directly affected by the York and Alscott closures) as each case will be assessed individually. We have already tackled RPA on the number of years of depreciation on a machine and on the lack of compensation if you have not sold your machine. However, I would strongly encourage you all to put forward your individual case of hardship if you think it is appropriate (eg if you are still stuck with a machine you cannot sell).
There are €1.4 million of financial aid available for contractors affected by sugar beet factory closures and who were contracted to sugar beet growers in the years 2006, 2007 and 2008. IT IS IMPORTANT THIS MONEY GOES TO CONTRACTORS AND NOT BACK TO EUROPE!
Any machinery contractor who has not received an application form and guidance notes is urged to contact the agency’s Sugar Restructuring Team immediately on 0191 226 5308 or 0191 226 5306 (closed bank holiday).
Completed forms should be returned to:
Sugar Restructuring Team, Rural Payments Agency, PO Box 1058, Newcastle upon Tyne, NE99 4YQ.
