FMD News for Livestock Contractors
There appear to be numerous rumors circulating the industry and we are aware that even official helplines are not giving a consistent message. However, the following email should give you an up-to-date briefing on the current arrangements for livestock contractors across the UK (this applies 05.10.07) We will update you if we are aware of changes to this information:
- England: As yet livestock contracting operations are not allowed until a license is released. We are continuing to harass Defra on a daily basis to get this moving as a matter of urgency.
- Wales: Ultrasound scanning is now allowed under license: Look under the following weblink then go into ‘animal movement licenses’ on the left toolbar.

- Scotland: Livestock services are allowed under license:

Please note: IF YOU HAVE A CUSTOMER IN URGENT NEED OF YOUR SERVICES FOR ANIMAL WELFARE REASONS CONTACT THE LOCAL ANIMAL HEALTH OFFICE TO ASK FOR AN INSPECTION. This may result in a specific license being issued to allow you on-farm.
