Transport Event Report

Contractors and their vehicles are inevitably inseparable…..except perhaps when mechanical failure causes despair and angst!

However, despite this close partnership, transport issues remain a cause of worry for many with a raft of confusing legislation. As a result, NAAC consultant, Mike Braithwaite is always a breath of fresh air, bringing a vast wealth of expertise and advice. The NAAC’s recent transport event, hosted by corporate member New Holland at their Basildon plant, was no exception.

Over fifty contractors packed the meeting travelling from across the UK. Chaired by the NAAC’s Mike Simpson, the delegates listened avidly to an excellent presentation by Mike Braithwaite covering issues such as red diesel, machinery safety, lighting and the movement of large vehicles on the roads. This was followed by animated discussion, allowing NAAC members a chance to get their individual questions answered by our expert.

An excellent lunch, generously supplied by our hosts, gave everyone chance to catch up on news between members, before a fascinating tour of New Holland’s impressive facilities.

Feedback from members was welcome showing that, generally, everyone found the day informative and interesting—well worth the travel and time taken to attend.
