Chairman: Ian Lucas (Ian Lucas)
Vice Chairman: Neville Selfe (Neville A Selfe)
The livestock section started life as the British Association of Sheep
Contractors 18 years ago and became the Livestock Section of the
NAAC on the 1st January 1993.
Members carry out a whole range of livestock services
including sheep shearing and dipping, sheep and cattle pregnancy
scanning, whole flock management, foot trimming of cattle and sheep
and contract lambing. Many members are also fencing contractors,
particularly in the winter months.
The section usually has two meetings a year. One of
these meetings is the section AGM held in November in a different
location around the country. These weekends are not to be missed
as they have gained a reputation for a really good social time as
well as getting together to discuss the problems of the day. As
well as electing the Chairman and Vice Chairman, Specialist Officers
for shearing, dipping and scanning are elected.
Areas where the Livestock section have been active
in recent years include work permit applications and Inland Revenue
status for shearers from Australia and New Zealand, and also to
establish the right of internal pregnancy scanning of cattle. There
has also been representation and contact with Government over the
withdrawl of O.P.sheep dips.
