The NAAC is delighted to announce its new Chairman for 2018-2019, recently elected at the association's Annual General Meeting. Charles Baker is the Managing Director of RC Baker Ltd, a family run contracting business based near Banbury, Oxfordshire.
Established in 1974, RC Baker Ltd have built their business on customer service and reputation. From humble beginnings with just a Ford 4000 tractor, Charles and his wife Mary have worked hard over the years to build the company that it is today. After the dairy industry crash in the early 90’s, they lost nearly half of their silage business over night. Charles had to quickly restructure the whole business, scaling back on kit and looking for new opportunities and exploring other financially viable avenues. This saw RC Baker Ltd diversify into plastic recycling, environmental work alongside the RSPB and later establishing itself as a specialist in the application of organic fertilisers with the importation of the UK’s very first Xerion/Kaweco tanker in 2008.
In 2009 this growth and achievement was recognised when RC Baker Ltd won the coveted Farmers Weekly Contractor of the Year Award. Today, Charles works closely with his two sons Christopher and Stephen along with his daughter Jennie, as they look to grow the business further and their extensive range of machinery and services.
Charles has been involved with the NAAC for over twenty-five years, and feels it is important to give contractors a voice and much needed support and guidance in today’s often challenging climate.
