The NAAC has added its signature to the new industry safety charter
to try and combat the needless loss of life and limb suffered by the agricultural sector.
The statistics are horrifying, with almost one death per week in our industry, and the NAAC is committed to
improve these figures and ensure that contractors, their employees, customers and families all come home safe.
The NAAC will be increasing the assistance given to its members to ensure that everyone has access to
contractor-specific information and guidance on health and safety. In addition, its
Assured Land-Based Contractor scheme continues to audit contractors
against health and safety compliance.
Commenting, Jill Hewitt NAAC Chief Executive said, "We cannot underestimate the dangers in our industry and
it is vital that everyone takes note and gives more focus to safe working. It is no longer acceptable to use
the excuse that we are all under pressure in a unique industry. Whilst time is always an issue for contractors,
if an accident occurs we will always wish that more time had been taken."
