Shearing Register – Working Together
Due to Coronavirus it sadly seems unlikely we will be able to bring in overseas shearers for the 2020 season. The NAAC is working with other industry organisations to fill a potential shortage of shearers and to assist contractors in putting together UK teams to ensure that the flock gets shorn to prevent unnecessary animal welfare problems.
If you are a shearer able to assist (even for a day or two of shearing), please complete the form below so your details are listed for contractors and farmers. Shearers and farmers can also contact UK shearing contractors (listed below) direct to offer assistance or to get shearing work completed.
It will be important to maintain Coronavirus protocols to protect contractors, shearers and customers and a checklist and guidance can be found here. NEW specific Coronavirus guidance is being developed ready for the seasons.
In addition, we must be certain that that high standards of animal welfare are maintained. See here for Shearing Guidance.
Note for shearers: The NAAC cannot take responsibility for the quality of shearing or ability of shearers listed on this site. It is the responsibility of each contractor and shearer to check references and qualifications before starting a contract of employment. To check shearing qualifications please contact Alison Gould, British Wool: firstname.lastname@example.org 01647 24804.
Do you want to be listed on this page? If you would like to be listed here, please complete one of the forms below – either to register as a contractor or as a shearer. Any questions, please contact Sally Hawkes on email@example.com 01780 784631.
