We are aware that due to Ash dieback there is an increasing number of agricultural contractors investing in tree grapple saws/tree saws to help in clearance.
This is a positive move as chain saws are causing a high number of deaths annually (11 fatals in 2021 AFAG). However, training and competence is vital to keep everyone safe and contractors and farmers must be aware of their responsibilities.
The NAAC and Farm Safety Partnership hosted a webinar on this topic which can be viewed here. Comments from the day included: “An hour well spent”.
